We built an agentic purchase path on Paytrail's payment methods (bank, MobilePay, card). Our own demonstration on WooCommerce, real orders in Paytrail's test environment. The agent assembles the order, but a human approves every payment with strong authentication — the agent never pays itself.
An AI assistant on the store asks the shopper's need, recommends the right product from the product data, and offers payment through Paytrail — bank, MobilePay or card, the same 21 methods the merchant already knows.
The agent assembles the order and creates a Paytrail payment, but does NOT pay itself. The shopper approves it with their own strong authentication (bank login, a MobilePay swipe or 3-D Secure) — and only after that approval is the order placed. MobilePay and bank payments are effectively a perfect SCA layer: this isn't just a Finnish payment method for an agent, it's the legally correct way to do agentic checkout in the EU (PSD2/SCA).
The customer's own AI agent (ChatGPT/Claude) connects to the store's MCP endpoint, finds the product and asks for ALL of Paytrail's Finnish payment methods — then picks OP (Osuuspankki) itself. The human approves with their own bank authentication (PSD2/SCA), and WooCommerce order #73 is placed. The same agentic purchase also works with MobilePay (order #63). A genuine end-to-end purchase inside the agent, with no human browsing the site.
The same path also works through the customer's OWN AI (MCP): an external ChatGPT/Claude discovers the store, assembles the order and starts a Paytrail payment the shopper approves with SCA — the same piloted agent-to-store model as in the Kustom and Klarna integrations, now on Paytrail's EU-correct methods. The build works on any platform with an open commerce API (WooCommerce piloted; MyCashflow, Vilkas, Finqu, Shopify, Magento and more). The agent is only as good as the data layer it stands on.
